Managing Director and Commercial Solicitor
Andrew has over 16 years’ specialist business experience in areas such as Employment Law, Company Commercial, Commercial Property and Dispute Resolution. Before entering the legal profession, Andrew studied for a degree in International Business and Languages and worked in industry abroad for several years. He then qualified as a Barrister, before transferring to work as a Commercial Solicitor.
Andrew has vast experience of advising large retail clients, on strategic business issues. As well as undertaking business advisory work, he also regularly appears in Employment Tribunals and Civil Courts and conducts his own advocacy.
Out of work, Andrew is Chair of the Leeds Property Association which is an Association of Landlords in the Private Rented Sector based in Leeds. He is also a Trustee of Harrogate Neighbours in Harrogate which is a Registered Charity which provides care and meal services for the elderly in Harrogate and the Surrounding areas. In addition, he is a member of the National Residential Landlords Association Advisory board, the UK's largest membership organisation for private residential landlords. Andrew is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association.
In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his wife and children and enjoys going to the cinema, music concerts and on holidays abroad.
Director and Employment Law Solicitor
Sarah is known for her no nonsense and practical approach to all employment and Human Resources problems. Since 2007 Sarah has specialised in Employment Law, advising both employees and employer clients ranging from small owner-managed businesses to national companies.
Sarah has experience in advising on a wide range of employment issues, from day to day advice relating to contracts of employment, policies and procedures, disciplinary and grievance issues, discrimination claims (including age discrimination and religious discrimination) and Employment Tribunal claims.
Sarah also has a wealth of experience providing non-contentious Employment Law and commercial Human Resources advice, support and guidance to Managers within FTSE 100 Companies.
Sarah regularly provides bespoke training to clients and Human Resources professionals, designed to meet their specific needs.
Out of work she has a keen interest in property, retail therapy and loves spending time with her family.
Accounts & Finance Director & Solicitor
Sara is a qualified Private Client Solicitor, and she is also a business graduate with several years commercial experience. Sara is known for her attention to detail and love of numbers.
In her spare time Sara loves spending time with her family, cooking and travelling as well as doing a bit of retail therapy.
Personal Injury Solicitor
He has spent his entire working career in law, specialising almost exclusively in Personal Injury Litigation. He has a wealth of legal experience in all areas of personal injury to include in particular Medical Negligence, Industrial Disease, Employment Accidents, Public Liability and Road Traffic Accidents.
David recently settled a medical negligence claim for in excess of two million pounds but he feels equally satisfied when settling minor injury claims for just a few thousand pounds, particularly if it has meant him fighting to gain justice for his clients.
He is a hardworking and conscientious solicitor, but outside the office he transforms into a regular bloke who loves having fun with his partner and two children.
Solicitor & Head of Residential Conveyancing
Catherine stated with the firm in 2021 as the Head of the Department having worked previously at a large Conveyancing firm in Leeds.
Catherine takes particular pleasure in helping clients get their first homes but also their forever dream home. She has a lot of repeat clients from North Leeds but also nationwide. Her breadth of knowledge means she is a one stop shop for all aspects of residential conveyancing for both private buyers and landlords. Catherine has undertaken training as a Dementia Friend.
A strong love of reading fills much of Catherine’s free time with a liking for thrillers and crime fiction, including Val McDermid and James Patterson. She is a keen cinema buff and also boards Guide Dogs which she has for 6 months each and has been doing this for the last 10 years.
Mica has represented national clients and other leading firms in the Leeds and Bradford Area. During her career she has built strong working relationships with clients, estate agents and solicitors to ensure that all transactions conclude swiftly.
She has assisted with a full residential conveyancing case load and prides herself on providing a good service and is happy to go the extra mile to meet her client’s expectations.
In her spare time, Mica enjoys spending time with family, training at the gym and going for long walks often with an overzealous Chihuahua in tow.
Private Client Solicitor
Laura is well known for her sensitive but friendly approach to her clients, putting them at ease when discussing potentially difficult topics. Laura is conscientious, thorough and provides pragmatic and cost-effective advice resulting in our clients coming back time and again for all of their private client requirements, and recommending Laura to their friends and loved ones. Laura is also known for expressing complex ideas in simple terms making the law accessible and user friendly for all of her clients.
Laura is a STEP affiliate and proud member of Solicitors for the Elderly, as well as a Dementia Friend.
In her spare time Laura enjoys spending time with her husband, family and friends and enjoys good food, the outdoors and travel.
Garry has worked for a number of major law firms in Yorkshire. He brings a wealth of experience in branding and promotion to help get the message out about the many highly rated services that the firm has available to both individuals and businesses.
When not at work Garry enjoys history including visiting historic sites and reading about history, in particular Roman history, the Napoleonic period and the Second World War.
Claudia is Italian and moved to England when she was 21, she is fluent in both English and Italian.
In her spare time Claudia enjoys socialising with her friends, cooking some traditional Italian dishes, and spending time with her family. She is also an avid Formula 1 fan
Stefan has always had an interest in Property and Civil Litigation; however, he is thoroughly enjoying his time in the Private Client department. Stefan’s private client experience includes Wills, Lasting Powers of Attorney and Probate applications. Stefan enjoys the procedural aspects of the work but also having the opportunity to have a positive effect on the lives of his clients and the community of North Leeds in particular. During his time with the firm he has gained considerable experience working with senior staff and has become a great asset to the firm. Stefan has undertaken training as a Dementia Friend.
Next year Stefan will start his training contract with the firm to become a solicitor and is keen to improve on his expertise in the many areas of law offered by Avery Walters.
When not at work Stefan likes to visit the gym and is a self taught guitar player with a liking for rock music.
Gabriella is the firm’s fourth trainee and so far Gabriella has experienced an array of departments from Wills and Lasting Powers of Attorney, to Commercial Property. She has aspirations of becoming an Employment Solicitor as she feels this area offers her the fast pace, variety and intellectual challenge she particularly enjoys. She has enjoyed facing the employment challenges brought about by Covid 19 and advising firms and individuals on the many challenges this has brought about. Gabriella is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association. She prides herself is utilising every opportunity to enhance her skill set, whilst providing the client with a friendly and competent service. She works hard to ensure that the client’s needs are met throughout the progression of their file.
In her spare time Gabriella enjoys walking her Cavapoo dog, going to the gym and spending time with her family and friends.
Private Client Secretary
Debbie enjoys the varied nature of Private Client and finds it particularly rewarding to assist people with their differing matters be it Wills, Powers of Attorney or estate matters.
Debbie is an intregral part of the team managing the Private Client diary, appointments and provides updates to clients at what can be a difficult or stressful time.
Debbie is a Dementia Friend.
In her spare time, Debbie enjoys walking, keeping fit, travelling (when able) and loves animals.
Junior Conveyancing Assistant
Elyse has experience in a variety of legal sectors such as Civil Litigation, Commercial Contracts and Employment and has developed good customer services skills through her background in retail. Elyse has also previously worked in Conveyancing handling post-completion matters, and enjoys the personal element of the role, in what is an important and stressful time in someone’s life.
In her spare time, Elyse enjoys spending time with her family and cats, musical theatre, and online gaming.
