The process is easy and straightforward.
Our experienced team can sit down with you for an initial no obligation consultation to explain the two types of Lasting Powers of Attorney, the benefits, the process and how to move forward.
Step One -
Contact us online, by telephone or email to arrange an initial no obligation consultation or to request an LPA questionnaire.
Step Two -
We will meet with you to discuss your requirements and provide advice and guidance. Please bring your identification documents to this meeting. In certain cases, we can meet you initially via zoom if preferred or we can facilitate a home visit.
Step Three -
We will write out to you to confirm what we have discussed, provide a quote for our services in writing and request any missing information we need to draft your Lasting Powers of Attorney.
Step Four -
Sign and send back our letter of engagement to confirm that you would like us to draft your Lasting Powers of Attorney. We will require funds on account for the registration fees at this point (£82.00 per document).
Step Five -
We will prepare your Lasting Powers of Attorney. If you need this done quickly due to a holiday, illness or otherwise please let us know and we can expedite the drafting process. Once the Lasting Powers of Attorney are drafted, in most cases, we will send these out to you with a full letter of explanation for you to read and consider at home. Our account is due for settlement at this point.
Step Six –
We can liaise with you regarding any questions or amendments you would like to make to your draft documents.
Step Seven-
We will invite you in for an appointment to discuss your Lasting Powers of Attorney in full. Any final amendments you require can be made then and then and we will answer any final questions you may have. Your Lasting Powers of Attorney can then be signed and witnessed. If you are unable to attend the office, then please let us know as we can send the documents out to you to be signed and witnessed with instructions on how to do this. You will then need to send the paperwork back to us.
Step Eight -
We will write out to your attorneys and ask them to sign the relevant sections of the document.
Step Nine -
We will then register your Lasting Powers of Attorney with the Office of the Public Guardian. This may take around 22 weeks to be processed. However, one the paperwork is signed by everyone, it is legally valid.
Step Ten -
Once we have received the registered documentation, we will write to you with reference numbers and certified copies of your Lasting Powers of Attorney. We will store your original Lasting Powers of Attorney in our fireproof cabinets and electronically, free of charge, for life.
Our specialist team can then assist you with any other areas of law you require assistance with in the future such as Wills, trusts, probate or otherwise.
