Our Will specialist’s step by step guide to writing your Will.

Our Will specialist’s step by step guide to writing your Will.

The Will writing process is easy and straightforward.

Step One –
Contact us online, by telephone or email to arrange an initial no obligation consultation or to request a Will questionnaire. This will be the first step to arrange a Will.

Step Two –
We will meet with you to discuss your requirements and provide advice and guidance or to review the questionnaire you have completed and obtain any missing details. Please bring your identification documents to this meeting. In certain cases, we can meet you initially via zoom if preferred or we can facilitate a home visit.

Step Three –
We will write out to you to confirm what we have discussed, provide a quote for our services in writing and request any missing information we need to draft your Will.

Step Four –
Sign and send back our letter of engagement to confirm that you would like us to begin work on your file and draft your Will together with funds on account as per our correspondence (usually £60 for a Simple Will).

Step Five -
We will prepare your Will. If you need this done quickly due to a holiday, illness or otherwise please let us know and we can expedite the drafting process. Once the Will is drafted, in most cases, we will send this out to you with a full letter of explanation for you to read and consider at home. Our account is due for settlement at this point.

Step Six-
We can liaise with you regarding any questions or amendments you would like to make to your draft Will.

Step Seven -
Once your Will is approved, we will invite you in for an appointment to discuss your final Will. Your Will can then be signed. We will provide witnesses to your Will. If you are unable to attend the office, then please let us know as we can send the Will out to you to be signed and witnessed in some cases with instructions on how to legally sign and have your Will witnessed. We would then request your original Will is sent back to us for checking and storage.

Step Eight –
Your Will is now legally valid and complete. We will write to you with a reference number, a copy of your Will and other useful documentation. We will store your original Will in our fireproof cabinets and electronically, free of charge, for life.

Our specialist team can then assist you with any other areas of law you require assistance with in the future such as Lasting Powers of Attorney, trusts, probate or otherwise.

If you would like to begin the Will writing process please do not hesitate to contact our specialist team on 0113 200 7480 or email us on info@averywalters.com to arrange your free initial, no obligation consultation with a dedicated member of the Private Client team.
